It might make the game harder, but it'll make it feel more like I'm actually playing a vampire, and not a superhero with fangs. BloodRayne makes you feed to heal, and the Legacy of Kain series even drains your health slowly so you have to feed just to survive, just like a freaking vampire should. Admittedly I haven't gotten far into the game so maybe there's a point later where it would be a pain in the ass if done more faithfully, but I didn't like how you could just hang back in a corner long enough and just wait to heal, even if you were down to just 1 HP and it was all aggravated. I also like the idea of the change to healing and blood drinking. Is there a guide anywhere to the changes to disciplines? I looked them up on, and was kinda disappointed in a few, Protean in particular (it's just a masquerade-risking combat buff, you don't even get to turn into a wolf or a cloud of mist makes me glad I never played a Gangrel). Don't see a more common tag for it.Ĭlick to expand.Interesting.

("Oh, crossbows!")Įdit: Oh, and I guess I'll throw the Bloodlines tag on this, since I see someone else has used it for a Where I Play thread. You can then throw on the Plus patch or a mod to see whatever random crap people have added to it. Overall, I recommend running the game either vanilla or with the Standard install of the Unofficial Patch (you get to choose between Standard or Plus at the time you install - same file) until you've beaten it once or twice. (So is the Plus version of the unofficial patch, of course.) They change the game in potentially rather large ways, but don't really claim to be "just a collection of fixes" the way the Unofficial Patch does. The Plus version completely changes how healing and Blood Buff works - I can't remember if the Standard does as well.

The Standard version generally doesn't change existing stuff around much except to fix broken quests and dialogue options or correct perceived balance issues. The Plus version more specifically adds a bunch of new weapons, moves stuff around, adds quests and dialogue options and moves existing ones around (to make use of assets that were included but not used in the original release version), and so on. The Unofficial Patch has two versions: the Standard version, that attempts to fix bugs and restore content and rebalance the game however the patch's designer feels like and the Plus version, which introduces new bugs, adds content, and unbalances the game however the patch's designer feels like.
